Yesterday, Sydney and I were able to go on a bird walk with some of the expert 'bird-ers' from our local Wild Birds Unlimited Store. We found and identified 21 different bird species including the rare and elusive 'Brown Creeper'.
This morning this was the scene in our backyard...
Using the recorded bird songs from our iBird app, Sydney can call certain birds to our backyard. They're quite responsive as you can see!! (see small bird on fence post)
This is Hugh, one of the Dark-eyed Juncos that frequent our backyard. His 'wife' Laurie stayed close by -- a bit puzzled by how another Junco could fit inside such a small flat box...
It's been wonderful to realize the beauty and wonder in the world around...when we take the time to see it...thanks to Sydney for re-opening my eyes!

So cool!
WOW- first of all, you posted on your blog! You have inspired me to find a few minutes today to update my own! Secondly, so amazing that you can call birds to your backyard, my kids would be all over that! We are always planting things and hanging feeders to attract birds, hummingbirds and butterflies. If they would like to hold some little birds (chicks) up close they can come over here! :)
That's why we have children...to open our eyes again to the things we forget along the way. Gotta love 'em. Sitting outside in their coats...ahhh, Seattle!
