that's a squeaky duck

as part of our summer challenge, [Syd - 8 going on 30] has the assignment to sketch three pieces about forest scenes that include animals native to the forests in our area...

so we were talking about what kinds of animals that would entail -- [Syd] - "so probably bears, deer, woodpeckers, hummingbirds..." -- Me - "yes and maybe squirrels, rabbits or chipmunks" -- [Syd] - "...and if we were by a lake - salmon, ducks, beavers..." 

Then Megan age 5 comes walking in only hearing the part about listing animals and says "or alligators" -- [Syd] gently corrected her and very knowingly said -- "um, gators would be more from like a swamp, Megan" 

Megan crinkled her nose at being corrected by her big sister and then said, "well, you could find hippos there" to which [Syd] replied again very knowingly - "Megan you would find hippos at a zoo" !!
